• PROFILER PLAYER PACK 1

    PROFILER PLAYER PACK 1

    $19.99

The new Kemper Profiler Player is designed with portability and ease of use as top priorities and makes using Kemper profiles even easier than before.  There are some limitations, such as fewer fx slots and capacity, but the beauty of this little monster is that it fits on a pedalboard. So if you are a player who wants to incorporate Kemper’s amp profiling in conjunction with your existing effects, it works perfect for that.  But, for most guitarists (myself included), it has plenty of available effects to cover most basic tones required for a gig.

The Profiler Player only holds 50 rigs (while the Kemper Stage/Rack/Head hold 1000), so my goal when trying to decide what to load into it was “what do I use in my live show now?”  So that’s where I started.  I use probably 5-10 base rigs, ultimately relying on 3-4 for the majority of the show, with the remainder covering either unique sounds or just options I can access quickly.  After those, I just started picking the rigs I’ve used the most in past shows and the ones I have recorded with over the last few years.  What I ended up with is 5 banks of 5 rigs which essentially is 25 “Greatest Hits” of my favorite amp rigs.  If you’re a longtime Kemper user with many of my packs, then these may be redundant, but are still somewhat unique in that many have been edited by me for optimization for live use.

These rigs are tweaked so that switching between rigs from different amps is fairly seamless and uniform, without drastic eq shifts that can be a bit disconcerting.  One of the reasons for that is that I tend to profile with the same cab most of the time and even swap cabs to one of my favorite cabs to keep that overall tonality present when switching rigs.  I have included a list of my preferred organization via a screenshot from Rig Manager, but feel free to load them in whatever order works best for you (most computers will organize them alphabetically). Details about the pack can be found under the “additional information” tab below.

**These rigs can be used in any Kemper (Stage, Head, Rack) but you may have empty fx slots and may need to create your own performances using the “map” provided in the documentation.

  • 69 Marsh

    ’69 MARSH PACK – 36 Profiles

    $12.99

When I think of my favorite overdrive tones, I always go to early 4-input Marshalls.  They can sound smooth or angry depending on how you play them.  I’ve gotten to play a couple of great old Plexis over the years and I own a ’72 that I’ve profiled frequently.  I got the opportunity thanks to good friends to profile this ’69 beauty.  It has been passed between friends from Nashville to L.A. and back.  It has that crispy top end that I hear on early Van Halen records.

I wanted to capture some variety, and even though I usually use my fave 3P 212 cab, I profiled this with 4 different cabs:  3P 212 CL80, Marshall 412 w/25w Greenbacks, Marshall 412 w/30w Celestions, and my Guytron closed back 212 w/Vintage 30.  I even got a few good clean sounds on top of the great overdrive tones.  There are even a couple where I just rolled the knobs up and dialed the Variac down to brown it out a little.  Hope you like ’em.

For California tones, you have Masa Hartbr8ker, TweedBass 410, Masa 50 cal, or Shah amp profiles. Boutique amps such as the Swolt AF, Comet C30, VTH D50, and Match PHX, along with 80’s rock with Rokman and the rare BadBot. SMOOTH PACK

    $29.99

M Britt Profiles – SMOOTH PACK

The Smooth Pack for Kemper contains 89 Studio Profiles of 6 amps and 4 Plug’n’Play Performances.

The Smooth Pack is the first in my “6 Pack Series” of profile packs for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier.  It contains 89 “Studio” performances of 6 different amps that cover a range of tones reminiscent of Southern CA amps from the 60’s-90’s.  Highlighted here are a couple of blackface amps from the 60’s, a silverface twin from the 70’s, a 90’s-era MeBo amp, and a boutique amp that oozes tweedy goodness.

  • IR

    MBlended IR Pack 1

    $24.99

Down the rabbit hole we go… I’ve always felt that trying to choose an IR for a device or a project was so time-consuming and tedious.  There are always so many options that I felt like my ears could never adjust fast enough to really latch on to what I was hearing or that after I auditioned 30 IRs my ears were pretty much toast and nothing sounded good.  Of course, I still feel that way but my goal in making these IRs was to try to simplify my life a little bit.

Instead of trying to capture a specific speaker with a specific microphone only to have to compare it to another type of microphone on the same cab, etc. I decided I would try a different approach.  I would just take my favorite cabinets and blend them together.  That way, I could keep the consistent tonality of my favorite 3P 212 cab but add different flavors along the way, such as a Marshall 412 cab with greenbacks or a Vox 212 combo cabinet.

I have been using these IRs for the past year or so in products like the Atomic Amplifire and now the Line 6 Helix.  I have tried them in the HeadRush as well as the Fractal AxeFx and AX8.  Of course each modeling device starts with their own distinct amp models and there are such drastic differences between the different platforms that I’m not sure there is a silver bullet, one-size-fits-all solution.  But I’m hoping that this pack narrows things down quite a bit, at least for me.

My biggest complaint I have against many digital guitar devices is a lack of roundness to the tone, not so much in recording, but in amplifying the guitar for live use.  I want to have a full, harmonically rich guitar tone and this pack is my attempt to get that using the tools at my disposal.  Using these IRs I can choose a cabinet that is tailored more to fit a Vox/Matchless type amp model and switch in the middle of the song to a Marshall amp model for a solo and not throw my ears into a tailspin trying to keep up with massive eq shifts.  Having a blend of cabinets lets me accomplish this and hopefully there is a small niche in the world for such a cab IR.  You can hear examples of these IRs on the Helix Presets which utilize these IRs.

There are 30 different IRs in this package.  Please see product information .pdf for detailed descriptions.  These IRs are .wav files and you’ll receive both 44.1kHz and 48kHz sample rates for use with most IR compatible devices.

  • Amplifire

Amplifire Preset Pack – 60 Presets for the Atomic Amplifire

    $14.99

I got an Atomic Amplifire pedal to try and thought it had good sounds and a lot of potential.  Our keyboard player started playing a little electric guitar on stage a couple years ago so I helped build a rig for him and when I got the AmpliFIRE, it quickly replaced the HD500 he was using.  With a bit more experimenting and making my own IR’s for it, I got sounds that were pretty close to what I would get profiling my own amps, so I made a little video demo showing what it was capable of.

The response was pretty positive for the most part and lots of folks started asking if I was going to release my presets.  When I shot the video, I used the same IR I made of my 3rd Power 112 cab for all of the presets and just eq’d them to mimic my favorite Kemper profiles.  Once I got it in my head that maybe I’d release some, I decided to spend a bit more time and try a few other IR’s that I had made and even tweaked a few to work with some of the different amp models built into the AF.

This is the result of that work and I hope you can find some sounds that work for you.  Since I began this process just trying to recreate sounds that I would use onstage, that’s what most of these are striving to achieve.  I tried to copy my favorite clean and edge-of-breakup tones along with my go-to rhythm overdrives and lead tones.  Most are pretty dry, with only a little compression and reverb, but you can easily add your own effects to taste.  I did include a couple with some fx but most are a basic starting point as that’s what some people prefer. The amp names in the preset titles are just for reference for what I was A/B’ing with on my Kemper. Hope these work for you…

  • J KELLEY PACK - 39 Profiles

    J KELLEY PACK – 39 Profiles

    $9.99

One of the early boutique amp builders, Jim Kelley created some amazing amps used by Vince Gill, Bonnie Raitt, Lee Ritenour, and others.  There were only about 600 made so they’re still pretty rare and though they don’t fetch Dumble prices yet, they are amazing amps and built to last forever.  I profiled this tan 210 combo.

With all the pull knobs and two channels and proprietary power attenuator, there are a lot of possible settings and I couldn’t possibly get to them all, but I tried to get some great usable tones from clean to crunch to saturated solo sounds.

  • COPPER JMI PACK

    COPPER JMI PACK

    $25.00

M Britt Profiles – Copper JMI Pack

This pack contains 58 unique “studio” Rigs and 4 ready-to-play Performances of a 1962 Copper Panel JMI Vox AC30 (non top-boost) amplifier.

These profiles were made using both the stock 212 combo cab (with Celestion Blue speakers) as well as my usual 3P 212 cab with a Celestion CL80 speaker.  The stock cab has a little brighter tone with a bit less low end while the CL80 speaker has a fat, full, even tone that still lets the amp shine through it.

Included in the 58 Profiles are 14 Liquid Profiles.  The amp is also profiled with some of my favorite gain pedals in the front to give a lot of tonal variety and options for lead tones.

  • EL84 PACK

    EL84 PACK

    $29.99

The EL84 Pack is a small collection of what I consider to be some of the most iconic, most-recorded amps that utilize EL84 power tubes.  Known for their smooth and creamy saturation and their musical compression, these amps can be heard all over stages and radios worldwide.  For this pack, I feature a fine specimen of a British made AC30 6/TB as well as a couple of Match(less) amps, the iconic C30 as well as the under-the-radar 3015.  Even after having played and profiled actual vintage 60’s AC30’s, this 6/TB model is still my favorite.  It has rounder bottom than many of the 60’s and it sounds great both with my 3P cab as well as the stock Celestion Blue speakers.  The Match amps take off from the same platform but sound slightly different (refined?) and have their own recognizable tone, complete with rich harmonics, chimey top end, and mix-ready eq.  Even having profiled similar amps, these have quickly become my go-to profiles for the quintessential EL84 amp tones in my Kemper.  Enjoy!
